Coastal Morphodynamics and Evolution
Overview
This research line focuses on the study of coastal morphodynamics, or the processes that shape and reshape the physical landscape of the coastal zone. These processes include waves, tides, storms, and sea level rise, as well as the interactions between the ocean, atmosphere, and land. The goal of this research is to understand how these processes drive the evolution of the coastal landscape, including the formation and erosion of beaches, dunes, cliffs, and estuaries. This research line will use a range of observational and modeling techniques to investigate the dynamic interactions between the ocean, atmosphere, and land in coastal environments, and to identify the key drivers of coastal morphological change. This research will have important implications for understanding the impacts of climate change and coastal hazards on coastal communities, and for developing strategies for mitigating and adapting to these challenges.
